Rest in Peace: Nicholas Courtney


On the 22nd of February 2011, the news broke out that The Brigadier, Nicholas Courtney, has peacefully passed away. The actor, born in Egypt, Nicholas was taught in many places, as his farther was an English Diplomat. He trained in Drama, and his first professianal outing was in 1957.
Nic has played numerous roles in "Doctor Who." In the 60’s, he appeared in "The Daleks Master Plan" as Space Security Agent Bret Vyon. He later returned to the role Who fans mainly know him aa in the story "The Web of Fear," where we were introduced to Colonel Alistar Gordon Leftbridge Stewart. He was then promoted to show is leading role in UNIT to the Brigadier. He returned to a more full time role in the Third Doctor era. He then made various appearences in 4th, 5th and 7th Doctor adventures. He has done various Big Finish plays, and appeared in Sarah Jane Adventures story "Enemy of the Bane."
This news has upset many Who fans. It was very unexpected. People talk about how brilliant the actor was on screen and off screen. He will be truley missed in the Doctor Who Universe. There are three books available on his life: two written by him, one a collection of memoirs.
