In Memory of Elizabeth Sladen

The world has awoken to the upsetting news that actress Elizabeth Sladen has died aged 63. This news has shocked many fans including myself. I am in Brighton currently and internet isn't ace- but i will now present the BBC news article. Liz was an amazing charchter and will never be forgotten.

Doctor Who star Elisabeth Sladen, who was also in spin-off series The Sarah Jane Adventures, has died aged 63.

Sladen appeared as Doctor Who assistant Sarah Jane Smith in the BBC television sci-fi series between 1973 and 1976, opposite Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker.

The Liverpool-born actress appeared in four series from 2007 of The Sarah Jane Adventures on children's channel CBBC.

Sladen had been battling cancer for some time and leaves actor husband Brian Miller and daughter Sadie.

Theatre work
A BBC spokesman said: "It is with much sadness that we can announce Elisabeth Sladen, the much-loved actress best known for her role as Sarah Jane Smith in Doctor Who and CBBC's The Sarah Jane Adventures, passed away this morning."

Start Quote

She was funny and cheeky and clever and just simply wonderful. The universe was lucky to have Sarah Jane Smith, the world was lucky to have Lis”

Russell T Davies
Sarah Jane Adventures creator
Sladen first appeared as Sarah Jane alongside the third Doctor, Jon Pertwee, and stayed for three-and-a-half seasons, also working with the fourth Doctor, Tom Baker.

Her character, a journalist, was renowned for being inquisitive and stronger than some of the Doctor's other assistants.

After her time in the Tardis, Sladen returned to her native Liverpool where she worked in theatre.

She returned to the role on several occasions over the years and was given her own spin-off series on CBBC in 2007, in which she appeared with the most recent two Doctors, David Tennant and Matt Smith.

In 2006, ahead of rejoining Doctor Who, Sladen said of the programme: "I think it has lovely layers and I'd defend the programme to anyone.

"I'm very emotionally part of that programme and I think a lot of the people who worked on it are. You used to love going to work every day."

'Brilliant presence'
CBBC controller Damian Kavanagh said he was "deeply saddened and shocked by the news of Lis's untimely death".

The actress originally starred in Doctor Who for three years in the 1970s. Here she is alongside Tom Baker
"Lis brought joy, excitement and a sense of wonder to her many fans in her role as Sarah Jane Smith. She was adored by our young audience and I know all of them will miss her as much as I will," he said.

Russell T Davies, the creator of The Sarah Jane Adventures, said: "I absolutely loved Lis. She was funny and cheeky and clever and just simply wonderful. The universe was lucky to have Sarah Jane Smith, the world was lucky to have Lis."

Keith Jones, the director of BBC Wales, which makes The Sarah Jane Adventures, said: "The Sarah Jane Adventures has been one of the most successful children's programmes on television in recent years - and without Elisabeth Sladen it would not have
"A brilliant presence on screen and on set, she brought the excitement and energy of the Doctor Who family of programmes, of which we are very proud at BBC Wales, to a whole new generation. She will be missed by all at BBC Wales who worked with her."

Sladen's agent Roger Carey described her as a "dear friend".

He said: "She was so positive about life and her natural energy was intoxicating. She couldn't believe her luck when her career was resurrected in her own series."

Doctor Who executive producer Steven Moffat said she had been a "ferociously talented actress".

We're Back! (Whoniverse News Roundup and RTPProductions Update)

I strongly apologise for the lack of posting on this blog. I've been fairly busy with life and haven't had much time to report on the "Whoniverse" to date. So, here we go...

You will all know by now Doctor Who Returns NEXT SATURDAY!!! We've had so much publicity- mainly from America, (but we could really do with a similar event over here BBC...)

The first feature of the "Whoniverse" i'd like to feature is the BBCAmerica "Insider" report on the opening two parter...
Secondly is "The Impossible Astronaut" trailer.

BBCAmerica have also began a new "tweettag" and "YouTube Tag" called "If I had a Time Machine..." What would you do?

Now to RTPProductions (you all leave :P)
The Sixth Issue of "Reverse the Polarity" will be out on the 20th of April depening on wether I have Wi-Fi. If not, then expect it on the 21st/22nd of April. Full details will be released soon.
The Hub will be out Early May. No date confirmed as of yet.

Meanwhile, you may remember we planned an audio series called "A New Life." This has been unfortunatley canceled due to various circumstances. However- we have plans to launch an "audio boxset" style peice in August/September called "Doctor Who- Legacy" and a possible new Sci-Fi audio season. More details will be confirmed soon.

April Fools Day Article- New Spin Off Season Announced!

This is all a joke!

The BBC have revealed to RTPProductions that coming later this year is a brand new spin off series for CBBC: “The Adventures of Amelia and Rory!” The season, which is set to begin production next week, features the young Amelia Pond and Rory Williams going off on adventures through Leadworth, where not everything is imagination.

Steven Moffat commented “The season will see Amelia and Rory through different points in their childhood life. From after the Raggedy Doctor to their teenage years, this season will be a new addition to the Whoniverse.”

We can also announce that some of the lead cast has already been confirmed. Catlin Blackwood has confirmed she will be appearing in three episodes of the season, and the Young Rory will be auditioned this weekend. Entering production next week will be the teenage years featuring RTP’s Matt Powell as Rory Williams for the six episodes he will feature in. This does mean that RTPProductions is currently on hold, so unfortunately, no more “The Hub” or “Reverse the Polarity.”

Matt commented “I’m thrilled to be getting the role as Rory! He’s my favourite character and I can’t wait to step into his shoes.” When we asked him about the scripts he commented “Steven Moffat is a genius! You won’t see the big twist coming.” The Teenage Amelia is still currently under wraps, but will be announced on Monday.

The first episode “The Mystery of Old Manor House” followed by “The Fools Playground.” These stories will feature the teenage Rory and Amelia.

More information will be released on Monday.

Happy April Fools Day! Sorry if anyone belived it ;) So I'm not playing young Rory, but a fiction will appear in Issue Six of RTP.
There was various hints...
